Disc golf course well on its way to being funded

Most of the funds needed to build a disc golf course at Community Park has been raised.

Tim Maloney – who along with his brother, Dan, is leading the effort to have the course built – says NoviTec Industries donated $2,000 and will be the course sponsor.

He said about $12,000 have already been raised for construction of the 18-hole course. Some $14,000 is needed. Included in the money raised so far is $3,000 each from the city and county.

Maloney said work on the course is under way. Baskets that the discs are thrown in to are expected to arrive soon.

Final adjustments are being made to the drawings of the course, which is being designed by H.B. Clark of Bowling Green. Clark is a professional disc golf course designer.

The course will be located throughout the park.

Donors and sponsors are still needed. Various categories of sponsorships are available. Sponsors will be recognized at the various holes. Sponsorships are good for three years. Donations are also being accepted from those who do not want to be recognized with a sponsorship.

For more information about donating or becoming a sponsor, contact Tim Maloney at 270-202-0340 or Franklin-Simpson Parks and Recreation at 586-8999.
