Industry of the Year Named

Tyco Adhesives was named Industry of the Year Thursday during the annual Franklin-Simpson Industry Appreciation Luncheon sponsored by the F-S Industrial Authority and the F-S Chamber of Commerce.

Other industries recognized at the luncheon included Arney Industrial Services which added 6,000 square feet to their facility this year. NoviTec Industries was recognized for expansion by acquiring Benchmark Cutting earlier this year.

Tyco Adhesives employs over 1,000 employees in a 400,000 square foot facility north of Franklin. Tyco Adhesives is the largest manufacturer of cloth back adhesives in the world. They also manufacture surgical, electrical and pipeline tape.

New industries recognized were Majestic Wood Products, Franklin Manufacturing, Novitape and Harman-Motive. The newest industry, Harman-Motive, plans to build a 80,000 square foot facility and employ 170 people.

Karen Deweese, owner of Pistols n’ Petticoats, was named the 1999 Sam Walton Business Leader Award.
